Terms of use

Low on Milk is run by Richard Down. These are the rules for using it. By using the app you agree to them; they’re short. What it stores about you is in the privacy notice.

What the app is for

Low on Milk keeps your shopping lists, and shares them with the people you shop with. It’s for your own personal use, not for running a business.

Using it fairly

  • Don’t use the app for anything illegal, or to store or share anything harmful, abusive or that isn’t yours to share.
  • Don’t use it to send people unwanted invites, or to harass anyone you share a list with.
  • Don’t try to get into accounts or lists that aren’t yours, or to break, overload, copy or take apart the app.
  • Links you add to items are your responsibility; the app doesn’t check where they go.

Free, with adverts

  • The app is free to use. The free version shows adverts, served by Google; Full Fat and Filtered (below) have none.
  • Adverts are never shown while you’re shopping, and choosing whether they’re based on you is up to you (see the privacy notice).
  • Adverts come from other companies. Tapping one takes you to their site, and what they sell is up to them, not us.

Paying

  • Full Fat is a subscription, paid monthly or yearly, that removes the adverts and adds extras. It covers you and everyone in one circle you choose to share it with, while they’re in it.
  • Filtered removes the adverts for good, for one payment. You also get it once you’ve paid for enough months of Full Fat (the Full Fat page shows how close you are).
  • You buy through Google Play in the app, or on the web through our payment provider, who sells it to you on our behalf and takes the payment. The price, including VAT, is shown before you pay, and we never see your card details.
  • A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel any time in Google Play or from the Full Fat page; you keep it until the end of the time you’ve paid for.
  • You can cancel within 14 days of first buying for a refund. If you’ve already been using it, the refund may be less for the days you had it.
  • If the price changes, we’ll tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel first.
  • If the app closes down, Full Fat ends with it, and we’ll refund any time you’ve paid for and not had.

Provided as is

  • It’s run on a best-efforts basis, so it may sometimes be unavailable, slow or have bugs, and it may change or gain or lose features over time. Please report problems from the app, and they’ll be looked at.
  • Keep anything important somewhere else as well: the app isn’t a guaranteed store for your data.
  • As far as the law allows, Richard Down isn’t responsible for any loss caused by using the app or by it not working, such as forgetting something at the shops. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under UK consumer law.

Your account

  • You need to be 13 or older to use the app.
  • You sign in with your email address and a password, with another account (such as Google), or as a guest with just your name. Keep your devices, password and that account secure, as anyone using them can use your lists.
  • Use your own name, or one the people you share with will recognise.
  • A guest account can’t be signed back into once you sign out, and is deleted after 12 months without use. Add a password or link an account in settings to keep it.

Shared lists and circles

  • Everyone on a shared list or in a circle can see it and change it, including ticking, editing and deleting items, so only share with people you trust.
  • Anyone with an invite link or code can join until it expires or is revoked, so share invites carefully.
  • What you add to a shared list stays with the other members if you leave it or delete your account.

Ending your account

  • You can stop using the app at any time, and delete your account from settings.
  • Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription bought through Google Play, so cancel it there first.
  • An account that goes 2 years without being used is deleted. We email you a month before, and signing in keeps it.
  • An account that breaks these terms may be suspended or deleted, with or without notice.
  • If the app ever closes down, we’ll try to give notice first so you can keep a copy of your lists.

Changes and contact

These terms may change as the app does. When they do, their date will be updated, and using the app after that means you accept the new version. They’re governed by the law of England and Wales.
